My sweet Grandma Carrie went home to be with Jesus yesterday morning.  She was 102.  What a beautiful woman, mom and grandma she was.

Our memory making days with her have come to an end…but we have so many beautiful memories that will continue to live in our hearts forever.

I have tears of sadness, because I will miss her.  I have tears for my mom, because there is nothing quite like the love between a mother and a daughter. But mostly my tears are of joy for her because she is in the presence of her Lord and she is able to walk barefoot in the heavenly gardens.

Grandma loved the flowers in her yard.  The picture I always have whenever she comes to mind is of her out in her yard barefoot, either working with her flowers or hanging clothes out on the line.  I loved to sit and listen to her tell stories of her childhood and the days of early married life and young motherhood.  She had such a sense of humor — and such a gentle spirit, however, if you can believe the stories she told, you never wanted to find yourself on the wrong end of her stick!  🙂  Yes, I will truly miss my grandma and hearing her talk about the things that she loved and things that were important to her.

There was never any doubt that she loved her family and was very proud of each and every one.  Her face would light up whenever she would talk about anyone of her 19 grandchildren or her many, great-grand children.

Grandma Carrie you are so loved and we are better for having had you in our lives.  Someday we’ll be together again.

Grandma Carrie, my mom, myself and my 2 girls.
